Vaping Linked To Rise In Lung Disease

e-cigarette health risks

For many young people around the country, vaping has become a popular alternative to smoking traditional cigarettes. These e-cigarettes are often thought to be a healthier alternative to the traditional ones, but recent events are seriously disputing that idea. The fact that vaping produces no secondhand smoke and no carcinogens has made them seem an appealing way to get your nicotine fix, but it turns out they may be just as bad for you as old-fashion cigarettes.

Can Vaping Cause Lung Disease?

In recent months, there has been an emergence in numerous cases of lung disease amongst young people who frequently “vape” or smoke e-cigarettes. Those affected have been mostly teens and young adults, with many winding up admitted to hospitals. Several cases have been so dire, they have led to coma or even death.

Doctors do not know what exactly it is about vaping that is leading to these serious medical issues, but obviously there is a component of these e-cigarettes that is resulting in lung diseases. For this reason, the state of Michigan has banned flavored e-cigarettes entirely to try to combat these medical concerns. It most likely won’t be long before other states follow suit.

With these reports coming out one after the other, there has been a few consistent questions that have come up: What exactly is lung disease and what are the signs or symptoms of a lung disease?

Avoiding Lung Issues From Vaping

If you or someone you know is experiencing any of the symptoms of a lung disease and frequently engage in vaping, seek immediate medical attention. If you frequently vape, but have no signs of lung disease, you are still at risk and could develop one if you continue with the habit. The best way to avoid a lung disease is to stop vaping or smoking e-cigarettes entirely.
